Sony dropped the images Spider Man fans were waiting for Tuesday night, more or less, in the trailer for Spider-Man: No Path Home.

As we learned from the teaser, Tom holland‘s Peter Parker is on the run and has teamed up with Benedict Cumberbatch‘s Doctor Strange for a spell to make people forget he’s Spider-Man. Except that the spell tears the multiverse apart.

A bunch of elders Spider Man baddies tumble down – but they’re not villains that Holland’s Spidey faced.

Willem Dafoe returns as 2002’s Norman Osborn / Green Goblin Spider Man. same for me Alfred Molina as Dr. Otto “Doc Ock” Octavius from the years 2004 Spider-Man 2. Also seen in the Sandman trailer, the villain played by Thomas Haden Church in the years 2007 Spider-Man 3, The Lizard, which was played by Rhys ifans in the years 2013 The Amazing Spider-Man, and Jamie foxx2014’s Electro The Incredible Spider-Man 2.

However, here’s who you haven’t seen: Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, the two actors whose respective Spidey alter-egos fought these villains in the previous films.

Obviously, Doc Ock was looking for Tobey, telling Holland’s Spidey, “You are not Peter Parker…”

Maguire has been widely reported to appear in the film, and Garfield is believed to be as well – despite his frequent denials.

But they can’t be found in the trailer. There’s another Spidey shown in the trailer, but her black and metallic outfit doesn’t reveal her identity – and it’s not a costume we’ve seen before.

However, speculation began immediately Tuesday night that Sony and the Marvel Studios co-producers may well get a quick fix. Marvel Studios has digitally removed characters from other trailers to preserve surprises.

Fans may have to wait and see: Spider-Man: No Path Home opens December 17th.

Marvel is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
