UM Extension to Host Drought and Your Farm Meeting July 26Ozark Radio News


Western Plains, Missouri – The University of Missouri Extension is hosting a workshop on Drought and Your Farm on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at the Howell County Extension Center. Registration will begin at 5:00 p.m., with lunch and presentations to follow. Topics covered at the seminar include tips and strategies to help your farm through this severe drought.

Sarah Kenyon, Agronomy Specialist at MU Extension, will talk about the facts of drought, protecting forage during drought, and nitrate and prussic acid issues. Elizabeth Picking, Livestock Specialist at MU Extension, will talk about low cost supplementary feeding, how to stretch hay supplies and meet animal needs. Eric Meusch, livestock specialist at MU Extension, will talk about herd management in times of drought, selective culling and the impacts of body condition on production. Logan McGhee, Executive Director of the County Farm Service Agency will speak about available drought programs.
