The digital strength of Nine Radio’s chat stations reached new heights in September, with over 11 million broadcast starts and over one million podcast downloads.
According to figures from Triton Webcast released by Nine today, the talk radio network recorded 11.07 million streams.
As Sydney and Melbourne emerge from lockdown, listeners are turning to Nine’s trusted radio stations for the most recent and trusted news, information and opinions.
In September, the week of the Melbourne earthquake and mass protests, 3AW hit a streaming record for the station with 1.34 million broadcast starts as a result of these events.
The network’s wider push in podcasting also resonated with podcast listeners, with data showing that the discussion network’s podcast downloads in September were up 16% year-over-year and 11%. month to month.
Hayley Bourne, Head of Digital Audio at Nine Radio, said: “It is clear that our listeners have embraced a new era of talk radio, broadcasting us anytime, anywhere on any device.”
“Events like the Melbourne earthquake reinforce the fact that we are the only radio network to broadcast live, local content, all day, every day, and when something big happens in Melbourne, the people turn to 3AW for fast, accurate, reliable and trustworthy information.
“We have a clear and substantial digital user base that we market to scale, enhancing the content experience and providing targeting to advertisers. “
