Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw has revealed that the next year is set to be “life changing” for the Dingle family, who will be in shock after two major events.
Talk to RadioTimes.com and other reporters during a roundtable for the soap opera, Shaw teased that there’s “a lot going on for the Dingles” as 2022 unfolds.
“Two of our most beloved Dingles are going to face huge life changing situations that will impact the whole village, and the effects of this are going to be lasting through 2022 and into 2023.
“In the coming months, we will see drama, joy, pleasure, laughter, agony, pain, grief and despair hit this family. They will be pulled in many directions and will be at the heart of our most big stories this year.
2022 has already had a dramatic start for a number of Emmerdale residents, with serial killer Meena (Paige Sandhu) taking her sister Manpreet and Vinny Dingle prisoner before being captured by Liam Cavanagh on Thursday and fleeing to Scotland.
Soap bosses teased that Meena would get her payoff, however, with executive producer Jane Hudson telling RadioTimes.com and other outlets, “Judgment day for Meena is coming.”
As for Emmerdale’s 50th anniversary, there’s even more heartache for its characters, with Hudson revealing, “Our 2022 is really going to build our stories for the 50th golden month of celebrations.
“There are going to be jaw-dropping stunts, more heartbreak, secrets and lies – it will be the gift that keeps on giving and the party that no one wants to end.”
