David Bowen joins Wolves Radio Broadcast Team – Sudbury Wolves

(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury Wolves, in partnership with CKLU, are pleased to welcome former Wolves David Bowen to the airwaves as a member of the play-by-play team for the 2022-23 season as the team is preparing to embark on the upcoming season in September.

“I am beyond blessed and grateful to have the opportunity to join the Sudbury Wolves broadcast team on 96.7,” Bowen said. “I can’t wait to be part of the Wolves family again and make the most of a dream opportunity. I can’t wait to get started.

“CKLU 96.7fm would like to join the Sudbury Wolves in welcoming David Bowen to the radio broadcast team for this upcoming 50th anniversary season,” said CKLU General Manager Rob Straughan. “It’s a full-loop moment to have a member of the Bowen family on the local radio airwaves again, calling Wolves games, just like the legendary Joe Bowen did in the 1970s!”

Bowen played for Wolves between the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. He also played three seasons for the Rayside-Balfour Canadiens during this time. David is also the son of Toronto Maple Leafs play-by-play legend Joe Bowen, who also started his career with the Wolves. The Unionville, Ontario native is entering his third year of the sports administration program at Laurentian University.

“We are very pleased to add David Bowen to our broadcast team for the upcoming season,” said SWSE Marketing Manager Miranda Boivin. “While finalizing our radio plans for the upcoming season, the opportunity arose to have David on the team through our partnership with CKLU and the Laurentian Sports Administration program and we thought it would be a great opportunity to give a nod to the history of the team, while also giving a veteran a chance to leave their own mark on the game. We’re excited to see what David will bring to the broadcast this season.

David will join the team as a road play-by-play announcer for Wolves as well as for some home games and will join our talented radio team.

Wolves play-by-play can be heard on CKLU 96.7, CKLU.ca and Mixlr.com beginning Sept. 30 when the Wolves open their 2022-23 season against the Barrie Colts. For the full 2022-23 schedule, click HERE.
